Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal under the aegis of the University of Oil and Gas from Ploiești (Universitatea Petrol-Gaze din Ploiești). The journal fosters interdisciplinary research and scholarly dialogue in the fields of law, philosophy, education sciences, social and cultural psychology — all converging around the foundational concept of civitas.

Aims and Scope
Jus et Civitas encourages both theoretical reflections and applied research that explore intersections between legal studies, social sciences, and humanities. Contributions may include critical analyses, empirical studies, conceptual investigations, and interdisciplinary syntheses.

History
The journal was established in 2003 under the name Buletinul UPG – Seria Științe Socio-Umane și Juridice, initially serving as a publication venue for academic staff. In 2006, it adopted a new editorial format and began publishing two issues per year. In 2014, it assumed its current name, Jus et Civitas – A Journal of Social and Legal Studies, and expanded its international visibility through indexation in international databases.

Editorial and Scientific Recognition
The journal is indexed in several prestigious international databases such as HeinOnline, EBSCO, and CEEOL. It has been recognized by the Romanian National Council for Scientific Research in Higher Education (CNCSIS) since 2009.

Editorial Policy and Peer Review
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process, ensuring academic integrity and scholarly relevance. The editorial board consists of experts from various disciplines, coordinated by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Viorel Cernica.

Languages and Accessibility
Articles are published in English and French, with occasional contributions in Romanian. The journal is available both in print and online, ensuring wide accessibility for researchers, academics, and professionals from Romania and abroad.
