Jus et Civitas is an academic journal dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary dialogue between the field of law and the social sciences. The journal aims to provide a dynamic platform for scholarly research that investigates the evolving interconnections between legal systems, institutions, and norms on the one hand, and the cultural, political, economic, and social processes that shape them and are shaped by them, on the other.

Rooted in a tradition of critical reflection and interdisciplinary openness, Jus et Civitas encourages contributions that approach legal phenomena not merely as systems of rules, but as socially embedded practices situated in specific historical and societal contexts. The journal welcomes articles that engage with law from the perspective of sociology, political science, anthropology, philosophy, economics, education sciences, and other related disciplines, as well as studies exploring the legal implications of contemporary societal transformations.

The journal is particularly interested in research that:

  • Engages with current theoretical and methodological debates at the intersection of law and the social sciences;
  • Analyzes the impact of legal norms and institutions on social structures, power relations, and civic life;
  • Explores the legal and educational dimensions of issues such as human rights, social justice, public policy, governance, and identity;
  • Proposes interdisciplinary comparative perspectives on legal cultures and systems, as well as on the philosophical and educational foundations that contribute to the development of a functional society.

By encouraging both empirical and theoretical work, Jus et Civitas seeks to contribute to a deeper and more nuanced understanding of how law interacts with society and how legal knowledge can support civic responsibility and democratic development.

The journal accepts original research articles, critical reviews, and thematic essays written in English, and is open to contributions from scholars at all stages of their academic careers.
